Try lowering the straps and putting a stuffed tankbag on the bike. Suzi actually spends most of her time on top of the tank bag and off my shoulders, but we have to stop every two hundred kms so I can stretch my legs.

I found some great pictures of dogs on bikes here:

Truly jealous! Wish I could take my husky for a ride, but she would jump out and chase the first thing she sees.

I remembered when I went to the humane society they took some dude's dog cuz he was riding with the dog between his legs on a scooter. They charged him with something I forget what it was...

Dogs are like kids, if they didn't like the nips, they'd soon let you know they didn't want into the dog park.

Wow. This thread turned out great. Thanks for all the replies. Ronnie, you're an inspiration. I almost want to do more with-dog riding just because I can, lol.

    Cheers all.

    Re: Riding with a dog.

I'm something else, that's for sure.

I do have a few things to pass on:

The dog's safety is in your hands.

Wet fur at highway speeds can cause serious harm, and Tim Horton's won't let them in to warm up and dry off.

Training myself to first ensure her safety then to ignore her presence on the bike was one of the hardest exercises I've done on a bike. It's not for everyone.

    Cheers, and ride safe!
