I think your on the right track in caring first about protection and visibiltiy. I don't think it's all that important to match.

pretty much all black. I have an all red bike so red gear was out of the question to avoid looking like a damn power ranger. My boots are black and red, two piece is black, so is my helmet but with subtle graphics. I'd like a new jacket thats red and black but they all have white, which turns me off..Hopefully I'll see something at one of the shows and my next boots most likely will be all black.

rafiki has it right - if you are worried about protection and visability then that is what YOU should be concerned with.
What we think is not important.
However - most of us are gear heads. Meaning we have a closet full of gear after about the first 5-10 yrs. Helmets I keep as a souvenir, sometimes. Every few years or so go thru said closet and donate/give/lend all the pieces that I don't want to someone else that wants em.
So remember that there will be more gear - go for the basics first and add as you can afford.
Yep after a few decades, you will have enough gear to match any bike....or mis match and not care(the boat I'm in)
Don't care to match... Especially to my bike! Blk jacket & gloves, but my helmet is gold, red, and grey... Helmet sounds weird but it works... Look up c-note by bell > the star model
I like black gear, it is slimming.

All my gear is black as well. I don't care about being visible. Even if they hit you they are going to say they didn't see you anyhow. I wear black everything Boots, pants, jacket, helmet... the only thing that isn't black is my visor which is a mirror finish. It is important to look decent, you never know who you might meet.
Yep, I always try and match my gear. I have white gear and black gear.
if you did not have matching gear would you still be a pu$$y magnet?
The height of fashion
For November riding in Ontario - day or night in poor visibility conditions
this day it would have been useful daytime
yes there is a bike in that fog and not far from me..
for $15 tuck one away and be fashionable 95% of the time and visible when you need to be....( and they might think you are a cop and really keep back )
I'n no ATGATT rider and my Silver and Black Joe Rocket jacket, black helmet match the Silver and Black Burgman but that was all by accident.
Tshirt and shorts rarely match on hot days.....
But could have used the day glow on this ride

and why I got it. I ride a lot at night mostly on back roads....got caught out this time...one of the more "memorable" endings to a day...drowned rat works,,,,
Jacket failed - soaked....would rather have been wet, cold and visible.
Got this the next day
Dayglo vest is for over the mesh - Icon yellow for serious rain. I guess if I was commuting I'd go the high viz route....they crazzzzzzzy drivers...

some people could rock the multi-colour look and make it look good
however i try to match, all black as well... boots, gloves, jacket, pants (helmet is black with a little white in there...)
still debating between an all black lid or mostly black lol... we'll have to wait for the bike show and see what looks good!

If you'd really like to keep matching simple, buy all your stuff in shades; whites, grays, blacks (/w reflective tape if you'd like). It matches with everything.
Thats what I do. Its not hard to match gear. I never try and match my bike though. If my bike is red I don't go out and buy red gear, I just get black and shades of black. I decided to go crazy with my current jacket. Shield your eyes from the extreme brightness of it...
A little flamboyant I know , but the yellow stripes have kinda grown on me.
