Hi everyone,

On behalf of Charly Vu I wanted to let everyone know how he did for round 5 of SOAR (Southern Ontario Association of Racing). As some of you may or may not know, during the month of July Charly had acquired an Honda RS125. The Honda RS125, a 44 horsepower, 150 pounds Grand Prix bike with speeds exceeding 200 Km/h is a pure bred racing machine built from the ground up with the sole purpose of rocketing a young racer such as Charly Vu around the race track as quickly as possible. Round 5 would be the second time that Charly has had the opportunity to race his new weapon of choice for the race track.

Once we arrived at the track on Saturday for qualifying it was clear that Charly was determined to do his absolute personal best. This was apparent during the morning practice session as Charly started to turn in the laps. Visibly a lot more comfortable on his bike, the lap times consistently got lower and lower. During his short break in between sessions, Charly had decided what was needed in order to improve his lap times. Initially all was going great for Charly during the second morning practice session as his lap times continued to fall and he was starting to ride with a level of aggression that was common when he was on his NSR 50R but up until this moment, unseen on his much faster RS125. Unfortunately, about half way through the practice session Charly had missed his braking point going into turn 1 resulting in him having a 100 Km/h tumble through the grass and dirt in the runoff area. Even though his body had suffered only minor bumps and bruises, his ego had taken a significant blow and his confidence had been shattered. As a result of his crash, Charly was having trouble getting to grips for the qualifying rounds of his 2 classes, Formula 2 Stroke and BOTT LWT thus finished last in both of his respective classes.

Sunday was a different story though as it seems that all that was needed for Charly to regain his confidence was a good night sleep. For the start of his first race, Formula 2 stroke, Charly stalled the bike as the green flag dropped. As all of his fellow competitors commenced their drag race into turn 1 Charly had no choice but to wait until the coast was clear and have the marshal assist him with bump starting his bike due to the fact he was so small he could barely even walk the bike. Once Charly was able to start moving his fellow racers had already reached turn 2. It was quite apparent to the spectators that Charly been quite fired up from all of his starting line drama as he started to chase down the other racers. Even though initially it had seemed that all hope was lost he never folded, put his head down and gave it his all. By the 12th and final lap Charly was able to outbrake the 3rd place rider within the infield of the track and therefore earning himself a spot on the podium as he beat his competitor by no more then half a bike length.

Charly was now soaring with confidence as he entered his second race, BOTT LWT. Once again he placed himself upon his respective spot on the grid, as the green flag dropped Charly nearly stalled his bike once more and once again found himself in a less then desirable position, at the back of the pack. This time it would take him 2 laps to reach the racer that he had so narrowly beat in his previous race and was able to pass him by performing an outbraking maneuver heading into turn 2. As it seems, his competitor would have none of it and immediately started to fire back. This caused both riders to be engaged in an all out, nail biting, no holds barred 10 lap battle containing multiple position swaps and with no clear cut winner to be determined right up until the final turn . Charly was able to defeat the other rider by once again the slightest of margins.
