    Fairings: Stock vs After Market

I know there must be some difference, due to the price difference.

Saw a full fairing set on ebay for $450 painted and shipped (07gsxr600/750).

God knows how much the dealer charges for a full fairing set.

What are the differences? Is the stock set made from ABS plastic?

china fairings are hit and miss. Quality, fitment, and durability are usually not as good as OEM, and many inconsistent offerings from the same manufacturers, so one set can vary from another.

Some nice graphics to be had at a reasonable price though. When they fit, they do look pretty.

Stock fairings are usually polyurethane, which is stronger than ABS plastic. Fiberglass is the other material often used in aftermarket parts, but is actually more expensive and often used when light-weight is preferred.

Polyurethane is repairable. ABS plastic and fiberglass are done if they're cracked.
