I know you can rent bikes through Trail Tours - do you ride in the same area as that place?
If I could get a bike it sounds like fun.

A friend and I are heading to the Ganny tomorrow...will be there around 11am if anyone is interested in joining!
Cheers
Paul

Myself, Bit, CanuckWR250 and another buddy not registered here (for shame!) are also going to be riding the Ganny tomorrow.
We plan to start off riding the East forest, meeting at P1 for 10am. A couple hours in the East section then we're planning on heading back to the West forest to play on Thorpe Hill and ride the West trails for a bit.
Would be great to hook up with you guys for some riding, where do you plan to be at 11am?

Xhumeka...be great to hook up with you guys to show us around. We only get out a couple of times a year. We usually start at P2....Can you remind me how to get there? Unfortunately we can't get their earlier...I'll PM you my number though.
Meme!!!...you'd have a blast getting dirty with us I'm not sure where Trail Tours is...but Ganny is Wilcox Rd and 115...somewhere around there.

I made this google map to help describe where the parking lots are etc:
Ganny Map
To get to P2, you exit 115/35 at Boundary Rd, then head right (East) on Boundary Rd. You will pass Micro Rd. on the left, then the entrance to P2 parking is 100 metres past Micro Rd on the right-hand side.
Depending how busy it is (and 11am will be peak time) you'll probably have better luck parking at P3. You get to P3 by turning Right when you get to P2 - you follow a little trail around a corner and there is P3 (see map above). The trail may look a little narly, but I've seen guys towing bikes behind Civic-type hatchback cars and they make it to P3 no problem
Meme - good luck, I hope you can rent one, but from what I've heard you can only rent from trail tours if you follow their tour guide (ie you cannot just rent a bike then head off on your own).

Your only other option that I know of would be to contact GTA Exotics, they rent dirt bikes:
http://www.gtaexotics.ca/dev/off-road.html
But I'm not sure if you have a truck or trailer... you can hitch a ride to the Ganny with Mike and I (leaving from Yorkdale mall area) but you would still have to somehow get the bike from GTA exotics to my place.

Parking at P6 at porter road is the easiest, some nice single track to the right as you go up the road from the parking lot.

I'd like to get in on this. I'm gonna try and make it tommorrow for 10 at P1 if thats where you guys are meeting
Just realized my pass expired.. doh.. didn't it go up this year?
Yes, let's stick to our original meet plan of 10am at P1. CanuckWR250 is probably right about p6 being more convenient, but for now, let's keep the plan simple and stick to P1 for 10am.
We'll putter around the West forest for a bit, and meetup with Paul & Co. around 11am at P2/P3.
Then we'll head to the leathercraft store (on bikes) to grab daypasses for anyone who needs one, and head off from there!
And yes, the rates did increase this year... $125/year, $25/day
Glad you can join us JoeBoo! Let's grab you a better avatar this time :)
(it's hard to see, but JoeBoo's current avatar shows his flopped over dirtbike, and him 3 feet away (he's the blue blob). Again, it's hard to see, but JoeBoo's hands are STRAIGHT UP IN THE AIR as if he's calling for his mother to pick him up after having a fall - MOMMY!!!!! :P )

Ya funny story. Right after I got my ContourHD I went for a solo ride to try it out. And right at the base of the sandhill I did a stooped flip over the bars. So every movie that I had of me on a bike showed me falling off it.

Great ride indeed guys! My knee is still a little sore from the wipeout I had before Paul arrived, but it could have been worse... those damn rocks that love to jump out at you! Reminder to everyone to always wear kneepads:

And here's a bit of footage from Thorpe Hill and Neils(?) Hill... Kudos to Paul for trying it on his DR650! I don't think I've ever seen a 650 playing on Thorpe:

I'll try to get some single-track footage posted later today.

Myself and a couple of guys were out then too, might have met up with a few of you guys, we were on an XR 350, an XR 600 and KDX 220. Met up with a bunch of nice guys out there, and a couple who helped get my friends tank of a 600 out of some logs! Anyone of you guys perhaps? great vids btw!
Here's my videos. My Camera ran out just as we met up with Paul and the other guy, sorry don't remember the name. I don't have any fancy software to string together clips so I've just posted the full videos. It's very long lol. Watch them all if you want but don't blame me if you die of boredom.
It should be mostly all riding though. I've tried to cut out as much of the standing around parts as possible.
Edit: Upon closer inspection I didn't get as many of the boring standing around parts out as I thought. And people prone to motion sickness should be advised lol.
- Part 3 around 46 seconds has a pretty cool sound.
- Part 4 around 8:26 I drop my bike on the sand hill.
- part 4 around 11:25 you can see Xhumeka attempting to push a bike up the sandhill.
- part 5 around 7:55 I get some candid camera admirers of my bike.
- part 6 around 12:12 Xhumeka Down.
