Are you heading south to Lake George before you swing west to Boonville?

You have to do it or your trip will not be complete. L George is only 90 miles from L Placid. Boonville is only another 115 miles from L George. Your entire day will only consist of 205 miles or 310 kms. A leisurely ride at any pace.

Before you leave L. Placid, I suggest you circle 73 again in the opposite direction. It is spectacular and your perscpective changes completely. This will take you about 45 minutes.

In any event you'll make Lake George for lunch. Take your time there and walk around the village and beach front area and observe the many historical plaques. They have steamboat cruises there that range from one to 3 hours. The place is gorgeous. I hope you like Italian food, because 60% of the restaurants in town are Italian. It must be the New York city influence as it is only 3 hours south of there.

    More great suggestions Carmen.
I aborted my long wknd trip due to weather risks, and now I'm glad, so I can include Lake George to Italian food & Boonville, and 73. Perfect.

If you give any more great ideas, this will be a 6 day trip, ha

Home safe tho we got split up about 60 miles from Lewiston.

Good weather finally after rain in the early part of the day.

Wanted to keep going to Pennsylvania - it's gorgeous out.

We have a full day of glorious weather yesterday - got hung for a bit in a monstrous traffic jam - some old car meet in Lake George but lots of backroads.

Much fun. Jason's dual sport 650 Vstrom was an impressive all around performer.
Lady Burgman was a bit put out at some washboard when we accidentally got off the pavement.
    Instant shiatszu massage

Jason's GPS/phone rig worked out pretty well - some good roads.

Anyone coming west from Boonville stay north a bit and there are some fine roads.
Too bad it was so wet but we still boogied in some areas.

Good food in Boonville - Amish Oatmeal was wicked.

1730k or so - 3 and half days.

Yeah I bet - cold enough at 5,000' on Whiteface -
My hands were okay - mesh gloves and liners tho there were a few times in the morning I thought about putting the serious gauntlets on. 4 degrees - glad it was a short ride to breakfast.

    Jason home safe as well..
    All good.

Glad to hear you made it home safe.
We are leaving Saturday morning, 7am.
I really hope the weather is nice.
Other wise we will be looking to ride where its not freezing and wet.

    Great pics.
I was supposed to head there this weekend. If it does not warm up we might just head south to PA.

Leaving tomorrow morning Bright and early just trying to nail down the final route. Should be good a time might be a little chilly in the early morning but the temps are calling for 15-20 perfect riding temps.

Great thread mates!! Nice pics too.
The Adirondacks should be "REQUIRED RIDING" for all Southern Ontario riders. The Prince Edward County detour is a MUST, as well. It cuts out some of the "bore-O-one" and gets you down to the water.
I always cross over from Kingston-to-Wolfe Island-to-Cape Vincent NY - more water, more fun, less bureaucracy at the border.
Big ferry to Wolfe Island is free. Little ferry to NY is $4 or 5 bucks (I think) - Maybe 6.

Eats: Captain Jack's in Cape Vincent (on the water), Cranberry Lake Lodge at Cranberry Lake (along 3), Desperado's in Lake Placid (Mexican), Nicola's in Lake Placid (Italian), The Old Dock House, Essex NY (on the shore of Champlain beside the ferry dock for Vermont - This is a GREAT place to stop.) None of these are particularly "upscale" - but they are great food & surroundings for good value.

Great tips - I certainly want to go back next year - might add this aspect on to a Cape Breton trip tho romance may make that a road trip in the van....
which has it's appeal with a snuggler aboard
