Try this if you are in no hurry,Its a bit more than 3 hours. It takes you to Hastings on the other side of Rice Lake, you can modify the map to where you want to go.If you are in a hurry to go fishing then theres no choice but to take hiway 7 or the 401.

I have a cottage on Rice lake. I usually host a get together every year. Roads are a little straight for my tastes but its a nice calm ride and good scenery.

You may also consider , 401 East on to Mill Street (Newcastle) south and follow the lakeshore Route to Port Hope, then along Hwy 2 to Coburg. All very scenic. Then up 18 to Gores Landing and along Rice Lake Rd/45 like the route posted.

Found this route which should give you some ideas.

That route includes Port Hope Backroads and Northumberland Rd 10

If you have a dual sport, I know a great off road route.

Their intended purpose was for racing, why don't you guys buy scooters, the handling ability of a vespa is still beyond anything either of you are going to need.
