roughly around the same time but from up in Keswick maybe a little earlier.

Life is best lived at Wide Open Throttle. Twist the right wrist and watch it all go by.
That might be a mistake, as there are still plenty of people travelling on wknds throughout September doing the fall colours tour in the Ads or trying to avoid peak season crowds, not to mention the # of seniors bus tours that take advantage of the off-peak fall season prices and general quietness at this time of yr. If it was during mid-week it may be fine, but being a wknd, I would try and have something pre-booked or at least find out occupancy numbers and decide from there.
And definitely bring your camera along and look up on the net some sites to stop at.
I have a couple of hotels that I am ready to book.
BUT.
I am not sure how many people are joining us on our tour.
Hell, I might even scrap the whole adirondacks and head to
Sarnia then travel north through Michigan, Sault Saite Marie, and
loop home.
Its all weather depending. I am working on both routes with the GPS.

Same route we planned including Boreas/Blue Ridge but we will do the northern loop across 3 first as this Friday looks to be the best day and then head south to pickup Boreas and some variation of 28 then back across New York State and back up across the border in Niagara or Lewiston.
Leaving Thursday 9th early aft.
Will let you know how it goes.
Thanks MacDoc ... we are planning a similar trip to yours, leaving next Monday, but was wondering if anyone has any comments on taking 9N from Lake Placid area south along Lake George before heading west vs 9 the route you have mapped as I have read on this site good comments about 9N. Just wondering how the two compare.
One other difference is we are taking the wolf island ferry to Cape Vincent which we did in the spring.
If you're in Lake Placid on a budget, I have stayed here several times when I am just looking for a bed. It's an old school motel kind of place, but the people are nice, and they appreciate bikes.

Anyone know if they have internet access...it's a must for me and I can't see it on the web
never mind - can't read
Our rooms are spotlessly clean and we have free Wi-Fi so you can stay in touch, download pictures, or surf the net to find out what exactly was off with your golf swing yesterday.

That hotel is not a bad location. It's only a ten minute walk to downtown.

I will probably be staying that the Northwoods.
Some other riders have recommended it.
My wife would rather stay in a great room after a long day
her ninja 250.
We are just not sure if we are going to book 1 or 2 nights.
I know the price is higher, but its only money right.

We stayed there last month, nice place, great location and well priced. How can you go wrong.

Most motorcycle problems are caused by the nut that connects the handlebars to the saddle.
Faster, faster, faster, until the thrill of speed overcomes the fear of death.
$68 a night and only 8 miles from Whiteface. Good German hausfrau to take care of the place.
and they have wireless.

Rustic but they have wireless. Looking forward to it.
Stayed here last year, its um mm cozy. Its like a little village all on its own, problem is you have to ride into town or any were else for that matter.
Rooms were relatively clean but outdated, and they did try to be as hospitable as possible. But if your on a budget and just want to ride and sleep its a good deal.
Lake Placid doesn't sleep, you can stay out all night and enjoy Placid to its fullest shopping, dancing, drinking whatever you like. If your going with the wife and she's anything like a normal woman she will most likely enjoy staying in the Placid city limits allot more then out of town.
After riding all day to get there its nice to get out on the town and have a few drinks at one of the mountain view patios.
Would suck if you had to ride to breakfast in the morning or ride out at night to have dinner then ride back to your hotel.

I have been to Placid before. I like staying right in town.
After riding all day, I really don't want to get on the bike and ride for dinner.
We will go out for dinner, have some drinks and maybe a glass of wine on our balcony. That king size tempur bed sounds so comfy.
I really don't care for wifi. I am on vacation. I will have my gopro and my
little panasonic camera full of pics to upload when we get back.

I like quiet - and neither of us drink to any extent at all. Bailey's and coffee is about my speed.
The coffee shop is open daily 7am to 10am
and I do have a business to run between my venturing about on two wheels so wifi is critical.
We'll check in fairly early according to the schedule - put the gear in the room then roam the area.
We're holed up at Clayton on the St. Lawrence on Thursday night o, we only have a half day available on Thursday to get from the west side of Toronto.
Placid is only 146 miles on 3 - leave at 8ish depending on weather - Placid midday.
They better have decent espresso shops.....PA was a bust in that regard.

Lake Placid has a Starbucks on main street so you're covered. However, what you won't find there is a donut shop.
