Don't limit yourself to the 250's, 500's are also good for new riders especially if you have taken a rider training course. I loved my 500 GSF, I just couldn't keep up with my boys, the 600 SS bikes.

Between kijiji, auto trader and this site, you will be able to find a 250 in no time.

Ya I think I'll keep looking for both. I was looking for both in the beginning but I thought I should narrow it down to one kind but you're right. I did do the rider training course so I shouldn't limit myself.

    Thanks!

You can check out the Ladies of GTAM rides.

As for the bike, I would suggest starting from a 500cc or 650cc sport touring.

The rider training course (M1 Exit) gives you at least 1 season of experience. a GS500F would be perfect for you. The 250 is slow and you might grow out of it fast.

    Good Luck!

    Re: New Female Rider

250 is an excellent bike I myself have an 09, and a 2005 cbr 600rr I ride the 250 more then the 600 just because of comfort and I take my girlfriend out alot. I just have the 600 for speed but comfort is there on the 250 and they retain their value. I got the 05 after just because I am a speed freak (On open roads of course). But yea my advice is shop around and don't make the same mistake I did (buying new) buy a used bike even if it's dropped chances are you will drop it haha. Have fun and good luck.
