More capacity is always nice, but realistically, if you havent solved your bear problem after the first 3 shots or so, you are probably dead anyways

Can't you get a permit to carry a sidearm when you are in the bush here in Ontario?

    You can in Alberta...

    Or can hunters?

I thought you could depending on how remote you are going to go.

that's impossible, unless your work involves carrying a sidearm

Sorry but this question is for people that fire guns, not the report button. No offence

As I was saying, I remeber this post or one similar a while back but know you can carry in Alberta for this reason, when hunting, as I know someone who does. (.45 1911) so what I posted is kinda confusing.

    "Wilderness Handgun Safety Course
This course is designed to ensure that each candidate successfully completing it, has a basic knowledge of safe handgun handling in a wilderness setting. This course is geared to people who will be using a pistol/revolver as a wilderness survival/dispatching/defence tool. It consists of both lecture and range sessions. Both written exams and a practical range test must be completed before a certificate of completion is issued."

And comments further made by the OP

It also appears from all I can tell is that this course is available in Ontario only and not available or applicable to Albertans. I don't have information on what this course can do for you in terms of allowing ones ability to carry a restricted firearm and where.

That's Rob, or Paul or the rest of the people that run GTAM.

Now you've made two replies that offer nothing.

I'd love to see something brought to Canada that would allow law abiding citizens to carry firearms in public. Something like the carry and conceal law in the US.

    Why?

What has you so afraid that you think you need to carry a gun in Canada.

    Seriously.

    Need to.

What has cops so afraid that they need guns? Statistically speaking, I'm way more likely to need it than they are....

It varies greatly, State by State. In some States it's virtually impossible to get a carry permit. In others you can get a concealed carry permit, but require no permit at all to openly wear a firearm.

For the most part, I'm fine with what we've got.

    Good question.

Statistically speaking, when was the last time you were victimized where it would have made any difference concealed in your sporty hipsack?

I still don't see what a gun is going to do in any situation where the attacker is inside the 7 meter rule range other than give the attacker your wallet, watch and a new gun for his next attack.

Unless people announce their attacks by texting you in TO.

Maybe, we are overly polite Canadians after all.

Really? Why, are you stationed in Afghanistan? Live in Regent Park or southern Scarborough? Have a dangerous occupation, like mini-mart clerk or drug dealer?

I shoot, but only my brother's guns when he dragged me out to state land in the middle of winter. (You can shoot on state land in NY)
Sooo, this is what I shot. Tell me what it is.
    A golden boy
    "Something carbine the russians used"
"The gun that won the west"
A 12 guage but they used smaller shells
An Assault rifle that he described to me as ideal for killing zombies.

    How's that for gun trivia?
He just bought an AK47 he said I could try when I go back down.

The only things I can manage out of that would be a Henry brass frame repeater and a Colt Peacemaker (the first and third).
