    Re: "Broken in to"

    "Braking a bike in" is referring to the motorcycle's motor. When a bike is new, the motor equires braking in to.

    E.g., A Ninja 250's "recommended" braking in period is between the first 0-1000km, in which "you should not exceed 4,000RPM."

    --
    According to MotoMan – break in secrets guide, it is "Because, when the rings don't seal well, the blow-by gasses contaminate the oil with acids and other harmful combustion by-products !!"

    How it works? I can't really explain it/ I don't know very much.

    --
    What do I do? I took my mechanic's advice and make sure run my bike in different gears, not just a constant.

    Hope that helped.

    "It's not who you are that's stopping you;
    It's who you think you're not."

    You're taking a newly assembled engine and mating it's parts, bearings, journals, cam lobes, shims. And most especially developing that all important scratch pattern on the cylinder walls.

    The first service will include an oil and filter change as well as valve checks.

    Read the owners manual and check the owners group for your bike and ask questions on the forum about speeds, throttle and maximum rpm during the break in process.

    Re: "Broken in to"

    it's break in.... not 'brake in'

    which is basically saying you go easy on the engine of a new bike usually for the first 1,000 - 2,000 kms by not going more than a specified rpm... of course, this depends on what is recommended in your manual.
    I’d rather be riding my motorcycle thinking about God than sitting in church thinking about my motorcycle.
