    Question 2011 Ninja 400R Quotes?

This is more for interest than anything else. The new 2011 Kawasaki Ninja 400r has arrived: http://www.kawasaki.ca/model/ninja-400r:1256

I'm hoping you insurance guys can provide a few quotes, on a few different profiles and from different insurers, to help GTAM members determine what these bikes will cost insurance-wise...

Wow finally one of the japanese bike makers have listened? Too bad it still lacks supersport suspension and such. I like it though.

Looks like the Ninja 650R body. I wish they would have more of a SS look to the bike. if they came out with a 2011 ZX-4R that would be cool

    Next bike?
1999 Yamaha YZF R6 (SOLD - Owned it briefly, very nice bike.)
1990 Honda CBR600F1 (SOLD - Old bike, but good upgrade)

    2000 Kawasaki ZZR250R (1 Seasons - SOLD - Great bike)
    2007 Honda CBR125R (1 Week - SOLD - too slow, felt like a scooter)

I don't think the goal was for it to be a 400 supersport.

I think the goal of the bike was to offer an entry level bike for adults, and a stepping stone bike from the 250 to something a bit larger, but not a 600SS.

I like it. Neat little commuter bike which is a little more capable on the highway than the 250.

Don't think they can give a quote yet, the bike is not in their system.

This is most likely true. I'm guessing that the rate would be the same as a Ninja 500 of the same vintage.

At $7,499 you're better off spending $500/more yearly on insurance for a few years and buying something bigger and used/cheaper. You'll still come out saving.

    This is correct.
All protests/beefs should be done on the Gardiner.

Yeah, it'll probably be 8500 OTD... For a y 400 with CHEAP parts? Yes, the brakes suck, yes the suspension sucks, I'm sure the handling is "OK" but for THAT much money? You can buy a premium excellent condition used bike for that much. NOT impressed, at most that bike is worth is 5 grand OTD.

Good looking is all this bike has going for it.

For some riders it has thousands less in insurance costs going for it. Factor that in for a few riding seasons and it might make sense to some.

I personally love the 400cc displacement category but this isn't a very impressive offering. I want Suzuki to bring back the Bandit 400 already.

Like the previous attempts at a 400 in North America, I doubt it will last. Unless all manufacturers get together and none sell a 500 cc bike, and all switch to a 400. Don't hold your breath on that one happening.

Yeah, thousands over many, many years. The difference between 400, 500 and 600cc none-supersports insurance isn't that much of a saving. If you love 400's so much, buy a used SV650 and takeout one of the spark plugs. You'll also save $3000 in the process, maybe more. This bike, NOT worth it, it needs MANY upgrades across the board to barely scrape by. $5, 000 OTD and people would buy it like wildfire, $8500 -- it's going to fail and anyone that rides a bike can tell you that.
