As a guy who just bought his first DS (98 XT350) I gotta ask "What is a blue plate?"

Blue plate = regular street plate
Green plate = trail only plate

If you have a blue plate do you then need an additional green plate for trails? Or is that just a day pass you would buy for certain areas such the ganaraskas?

Have been tempted to move to a trail bike, but how would a V-strom with some on-off road tires do on a run like this?

Is there a database of these trails? A friend of mine recently did or will do a ride from Bomanville to Picton.

Blue plate will cover you on the road + municipal gravel roads + non-winter maintenance roads. Essentially, any road where the highway traffic act is in effect.

Where you need a pass is Ganaraska + privately owned property + some forest tracts.

OFTR membership covers many of these.... I think?!

just did it about halfway, to collingwood before i ran out of light. pretty cool ride and can be hardcore in places, at least for my newb ***. the waterfall crossing was a bit of a pucker with the drop off and then there was a fallen tree I had to muscle outta my way. one descent was pretty hairy but I did it. thanks for the tracks again. one day I will do the way back too and finish off the way up as I cut across pretty river road and to the top of the mountain that way. lots of mud holes to go around tho.

That looks like an excellent ride. If this is being ridden again by anyone let us know. I'm a beginner class rider with a blue plated 250.

Re: Toronto - Collingwood ride (PICS!!!)

Some of the trail sections look great, I only have a green plate on my XR350, so I am guessing I can't ride on all of it. How much of it would you think I can ride on? if a good percentage I would love to meet up with anyone going through here! post up next time you all are going!
