Hi, i just got my m2 and looking to start off with a 250. I know this discussion has been posted before but i'm looking to get a new perspective considering the hyo's have made some new changes in the 2010 from their older models. please no bashing i'm just looking for some good comparisons and advice. Thanks alot!!!

i've got 08 Hyo. happy with it. sit on both bikes and see which is more comfortable to you. the 2010 version is updated with looks and parts. but i wonder becuase of being 2010 model, it will be quite expensive than lets say a used 08 Ninja 250. if its ur first bike, might be best to get used. i learned this lesson the hard way.

if you haven't already, read the reviews on google. there are TONS.

The ninja is tried and true. easy to get parts.

The hyo is more exclusive and more expensive. Can't say about reliability.

Really, you can't go wrong with any 250. But my suggestion for you would be to get a used bike as your first.

I have a Hyosung gt250r and i love it. my brother has the ninja 250. The size and torque is better on the hyosung. Bought mine new, battery had to be changed thats all factory one is crap. I do change the oil every 3000k very easy. The ninja is a smaller bike but is a more comfortable ride. I would tell you to check both out see witch one feels better for you.

Fast Bikes compared the two in a decent issue, July 2010 the one with GSXR, R6 v848 on the cover.

Although I may be a bit biased, Ninja 250r all the way for me. All things being equal the Ninja does a better job being a 250, whereas the Gt250r tries harder to look bigger and like something its not...if you get what I mean. However if you're a bigger guy (6'+) and still want a 250 the Gt250r may be exactly what you're looking for. Personally I don't like the Hyo's front lights and you gotta get rid of its decals. Why they would bother to make it look bigger, then badge it a 250 is kinda weird.

    Resale value -

Kawi is much easier to sell than a Hyosung. Chances are you won't keep your 250 for multiple seasons. So if your looking to sell after a year or two you'll have a much easier time selling the kawi.

I've noticed all the hyosungs take hella long to sell.

2010 Hyosung is fuel-injected and a larger bike. If that suits you I'd get it.

Agreed with Previous posters Kawi IS proven Hyosung isnt you see some 1980's 250 ninjas out still. Only time will tell for hyosung. Go with what suits you best. Plenty of reviews out their.

stay away from hyosung. i bought a brand new 250 last September and used it for a month. it was my starter bike and did not like it very much, not sturdy on the road. sold it with much difficulties for half the prize.

Ye bro I had that same decision come my way couple of weeks ago. I just bought my Ninja 250r 09 model about 2 weeks ago and maybe I might be a bit biased but personally I really am happy i chose the Ninja 250. From all the reviews and everything i read online everyone said that the feel and make of the hyo was very cheap. Some even complained the paint started to chip very soon :O! Thats why i decided to go with a known and trusted brand..
But honestly though, it all comes down to what your personal opinion is bro. see if you can test ride both, and feel up both loll and decide for yourself. If you have any other questions feel free to ask away!

yeh i am in the same dilemma right now but i am going with the kawi after tons of research. hyosung parts are harder to find, build quality isnt as good, and then theres the whole resale issue. so i would rather buy something now that i will be able to sell down the road for about the same price (we are not guno be riding 250s for rest of our life most likely)... but honestly totally what you feel most comfortable with.

im sure u've already heard this, but ill say it again
you can almost always easily re-sell a ninja or any kawi 250's. if u buy used with a great deal, u can sell it the next season for the same price u paid for or a little less. even if u buy new, ull be able to sell it for alot more then re selling a higher cc bike in the same situation. As far as ive hurd, no one wants a used hyosung. u'll loose alot of money when it comes time to sell.
unless ur absolutaly in love with the hyosung id go the kawi way bc u'll probably want to upgrade after u've had a season or two under ur belt

I got a Kawi 250 for sale if u decide to go that way :P I don't have to say a word about Kawi's reliability.

Friend of mine has a 08 Hyosung....looks amazing. Its a full size 250. He had to replace the battery and fix the throttle grip (got loose). Other than that, it seems to be running perfectly fine.

    Re: 2010 hyosung gt250r vs 2010 kawa ninja 250r

2nd hand kawi is the best option for several reasons:
    1) Easier to find used
    2) Easier to sell used
    3) If planning to keep for only a year, can re-sell for same price or lose a few hundred at the most.

The only reason you could get a hyo is if you really like it and wish to stick with it for many years. If you have a bigger bike as your end game and a 250 as a stepping stone, then you can't go wrong with kawa.
