Are these actual new episodes? Or is this gonna be like the last time, where they just make 2 or 3 movies and chop them up into half-hour bits?

Its brand new episodes. I always thought at the time that Futurama was funnier than the Simpsons. I was really disappointed when they cancelled it (along with family guy). Fox really knows how to throw money out the window.

*edit* i should say, i mean when they were both on the air. Around 1999/2000 is when The Simpsons got really, really unfunny. As in, painful to watch. Futurama would have been the better direction for Matt Groening to take, but i guess theres just too much money in the simpsons brand to throw it away.

Agreed on the simpsons bit. Futurama is still one of the funniest, best written shows on TV. I hope it's as good when they come back...

Sweeeeeet, can't wait for this. I loved the episodes but really didn't care for the movies ... the humour was too forced.

Beast With A Billion Backs sucked, but Benders Big Score and Bender's Game were pretty funny.

Who here remembers that bender episode when he gets lost somewhere in outerspace, then two colonies of mold (or something) start growing on his body: one on the front (that he talks to), and the other on his arse (the "evil" colony)... then they go to war...

Then he runs into what I think the writers wanted to convey as "god".

T'was a really philosophical episode... anyone know the name? I'd like to watch it again.

I love this show. For me the show has been consistently funny and had some deep philosophical moments too. I find at nights switching from Simpsons to Futurama all the time as they air at the same time.

Haha at the janitor in the pic. I always love how he randomly shows up without caring about anything. In fact.. I should put him up as my avatar.

Yes...I think. To be honest I just wanted to post that clip up as it was the most random comment in that show ever haha. That was part of the episode where they had super powers.

A few episodes were surprisingly deep AND funny. Goes to show how important good writers are. I really really hope that this is maintained with the new episodes. I agree that some of the humor in the movies wasn't on par with the episodes.

good to see that it won that writer's award. I was just channel surfing one day on a random summer saturday (hungover, lol), looking for an F1 race, and stumbled upon this gem...

rcaste got it - Godfellas. I was just talking with a buddy about this episode the other day and commenting how deep some of the episodes were. This one was by far one of my favourites.

Agreed and it was style of writing/humour that I found missing from the movies. Do you know if the same writers worked on the movies as the episodes?

I have no idea, but I'm gonna go out on a limb and say no. The style and overall feel of the movies was completely different. It was actually very depressing hahaha.
