Yes I have used them. Not on the bike but when I was doing a multi day hike. I found they work well, but then again I like sleeping in hammocks.

edit - figure I should add some more details. They are constructed fairly well, and are light. It didn't rain very hard on my trip, but in a light drizzle/morning dew I was dry in the morning. I'm 5'11" and I found them to be very comfortable to sleep in. I was using one of their original ones. Where I was there were many trees to tie off to. I could see it being an issue for areas that are not wooded.

i have actually been looking at these for some back country camping since i wont have to carry around a tent with poles...they are useless if your have a significant other tagging along though.

Check out ADVrider (under Trip Planning and Equipment). Pages and pages of stuff. I like the idea of a hammock, but areas with enough trees are also giant mosquito habitat.

Lets see, helmet, jacket, boots etc and have it be sort of secure..

While you go for a swim, shower, sleep, whatever...

This is the sort of thing that concerns me most about camping with the bike, especially as I tour solo...

Toss it all in a dry bag and hoist it out of sight, or run a bike lock through them and lock it to your bike.

I always lay a tarp on the ground, ride the bike onto it then flip it up and over the bike, crawl inside and lace the ends shut. The bike becomes all the structure I need so there are no poles and I'm not dependent on trees. As a bonus, nobody can f with the bike or gear as it's all inside with me.

I'm always worried about sleeping next to anything that could potentially fall on me. Now that the bike is rigged up like a sail I'd be even worrieder.

Its only 500lbs, it won't kill ya lol

No reason for it to fall, just sleep on the kickstand side!

The tarp thing really is a great idea...

Been using a Hennessy Hammock for quite a few years now. Set it up in the dark while raining in 5mins. and have a totally dry spot to sleep. With the snake skins I can break it down in three, ends up to be about half the size of a loaf of bread. If you keep an eye on there website they usually have a sale that includes a tarp and the skins for free. You can get one that sleeps two but sacrifices space and weight and you better know your partner well. Barley use the tent anymore.

I always put a pad under the kickstand and then slept on the right side of the bike so if the kickstand sank it would fall away. That bike had a pretty decent lean (and if the ground was uneven, I dug the pad into the ground a bit to lean the bike more), so I never had it think about blowing onto me. If the bike were a little tippier I might consider the left side of the bike.

As a bonus, if the weather is a little chilly the bike warms your 'tent' while you fall asleep.
