I think a friend of mine is paying far too much for insurance, although because my bike is the only insurance I've ever been responsible for, I don't really have anything to compare it to. He's 21 with his G2, has one conviction, and is financing a 2006 Acura TSX. He was paying ~$500/month, and I just heard it went up, so I decided to throw it out there. Does that sound about right? I know this is gtamotorcycle but I'm hoping you guys can shed some light on this. It just seems incredibly high to me!

Tell him to shop around.

Try quoting on www.kanetix.ca . This will give him quotes from various insurance companies. Also tell him to contact an insurance broker for quotes as well. When I first stated driving, I just went with the insurance company that my parents were with then later switched to the insurance company that I worked for. It was not until a few years ago when I was shopping for bike insurance that I looked at my auto premiums. I found that shopping around saved me money.

Each insurance company has different rates geared towards certain target markets. He needs to find the company that wants him as a customer; you can tell this by their lower rates.

Keep in mind that rates change year to year and he should shop around for prices at every renewal.

He can call some brokers. The more companies a broker has, the better a job they're able to do.
