Damn you and your low rates...
On topic, I think the ex250 might get you lower rates...i heard that some companies actually have a different classification for the different kinds of 250s...weird...

I'm just setting up the insurance on my 250, the girl at MM said she had a choice of either the ex250 or 250r based on the VIN I gave her.
Is that right, seems to me after checking around on the internet that the 250r may not have come out until a later year?
Pretty sweet though, they originally quoted me $1000 / year, but then revised it to $650 when I gave them my bike course certificate

Always thought the R stood for racing - so perhaps the saying it was an ex could give you a lower rate. I do not know what ex means, if it does mean anything, but ex sounds less expensive than racing.
Just my $.02.
I think the 250r is 2008+... not 100% sure though.
did u call around?
tom sammut state farm gives me a good rate
I'm pretty sure the r does stand for racing, and Meloche/Monnex said that they dont insure all racing models.
I was simply thinking that the 250R model didn't come out until recently....certainly not way back in 1993.
I only called one other place for insurance, and it was $900 per year more, that was Jevco. I'm pretty sure the insurance I have is the cheapest, it was way cheaper for my car and home as well when I switched.
hmm well its always worth a phone call...i'm in the same area, and i'm paying much less for the same bike, but mine's a 2010
