    Rotella T Synthetic

Just wanted to let everyone know Canadian Tire has it on sale starting tomorrow for the week at $21.99 usually $29.99. So go get some and give your bike a fresh drink of oil.

Thanks for the heads up... Just as I stocked up on it for the season. At least some of it was bought in the U.S. so I'll be paying about the same price.

Thanks for the heads up. I'm thinking of either getting Rotella or Amsoil still.

The one Pannon sports had was T6, and the one CT is selling is just T. I am not quite sure whats the difference. Also, is diesel oil safe for the motorcycle?

I used to buy valvoline (I think???) filters from them... all black with a sticker on them... I think they were made by Purolater.

stay away from FRAM and their own brand (Fram).... I think quaker state looked like fram too..

T6 meets the JASO-MA specs, so you can run it in newer bikes. I have been running T in my older bike for years without any issues.

I have 2007 ZX6R which is relatively new. I was thinking of buying this CT one but I was kinda confused whether it will be safe for my bike or not. What GTAM experts have to say about it?

Here is a White paper outlining the differences of Motor Cycle Oils. This is an independent study and not a solicitation for you to buy anything. I just figure it would be handy. I am quite anal about my bike as well.

Thanks man, it is an informative study and no wonder Amsoil is one of the best oils out there. However, my question regarding this Shell oil remains the same

Confused. So the Rotella oil does not say for Motorcycle use but simply for Diesel vehicles?

No wonder I had a tough time finding Rotella full Synth for Motorcycles.

    I wouldn't touch it.

It says it's a 5W-40 Diesel Oil. I doubt you have a Diesel bike though. If your bike manufacturer recommends 10W-40 Motorcycle Oil, why would you want to put in 5W-40 Diesel Oil. It may be cheap, but in the long run I can't see this being good.

I wouldn't run T, but I'd run T6 if I were you. T has to much unburned ash content that may mess with your emissions control.

Diesel oils are generally made with good base stocks, compatible additive packages and no friction modifiers, which makes them great for motorcycle use. The caveat is the unburned ash content and that only affects newer bikes. If it's low enough (as in the case of T6), it meets the JASO-MA specs and is safe to use in newer motorcycles, especially on the street.
