Waiting on parts, hearing bikes go by my apartment every 15 minutes and twitching. So, I'm putting time into my other hobby.
I figured this would be more appropriate than hijacking the "hey I saw you, are you on this forum" thread.
I hope you guys don't mind.

Those are great, wish I could handle my camera half as well. Canon Rebel XT but after my wife taking the course at Henry's and passing on the instructions to me the camera gets left on auto all the time.
I shoot with a Canon Rebel XTi. For the panning shots, I was using a borrowed 100mm lens set at 1/100s. The shot with the two nortons was taken with my 50mm prime.
I usually shoot in full manual, and sometimes in aperture priority if I'm feeling lazy or "more casual"
Thanks for the compliment.
He was at the second cup with the red norton's owner. They were kind enough to let me take some photos of the two bikes parked.
I asked if they wanted to see the pictures, but they declined (I'm sure they have lots of photos of their nortons) but I doubt he knows I got one of him on the road.
Just tell me where u will be taking shots next time so I could past by

What feels better than banking a motorcycle over into a corner?
I enjoy listening to the radio at a reasonable volume from nine to eleven.
hey zilcho, i just pan with the subject. I start panning when they're just behind and then hit the shutter release.
A general rule of thumb is that you can keep the camera steady with a shutter speed as slow as 1/[focal length] seconds. So, the photos on the first page where shot at 100mm focal length, so I shot at 1/100 seconds. At 60 or 70 kmph, this is slow enough to get a bit of a blur.
The ones I posted today were shot with my 50mm lens, which is much lighter. So, I can shoot as slow as 1/50 seconds. On slower roads (like the harley and the zx10) where the speed limit was 40, the slower shutter speed was needed to get that blur.
This is actually much easier than I expected as I would say approximately 60-70% of the photos I take turn out. So far I've scrapped three that didn't turn out.
Hm. I guess you set manual focus to the expected distance and just wait for a bike to appear. I usually shoot in auto-focus mode (i.e. let the lens adjust itself), and that takes a bit of time (precious miliseconds...), plus it's harder (or takes longer) when the camera is moving.
That makes me want to take my K10D and do some shooting too.
