Licence holder fail to sign driver's licence in ink??

I was looking through this site today

    http://www.toronto.ca/court_services...htm#scheduling

    and found this . . .

Licence holder fail to sign driver's licence in ink H.T.A. Sch. 46, s. 34

Anyone here have a driver's licence they can sign? I wonder if this is ever used?

There are two, identical sigs on the new Ontario driver's license, but unlike a credit card for example, signing takes place before the card is made, not after.

Edit: re the "sign in ink", this could simply apply to temporary licenses (the paper type).

Is it in "ink" though . . . printers use "toner"

It's a hold-over from the old days, though can still be applicable.

And toner is powdered ink. The law does not say you have to use a bic pen, it just says ink, as opposed to lead pencil.

There are scads of old, useless and outdated laws on the books. This would seem to be one.

The authorities are usually only interested in making new laws. Not getting rid of old ones that no longer apply. For example, if you're driving a horse drawn sleigh on an Ontario highway, it must have two, not one but two, bells on it.

My guess is that you have never driven around Elmira Ont. That particular law is still valid around there.

... But you still aren't allowed to drag your horse down Yonge Street.

Only driven there in the summer. The buggies aren't required to have bells or I would have ratted them out to Fantino's Finest.

Is that a problem for you? Do you find it inconvenient to have to drag it down side streets? I do have to wonder though why so many can complain here about out dated laws, but none seem to have the drive to actually attempt to do anything about it.

I work at Yonge and Dundas so yes, it's an inconvenience to have to drag my dead horses all the way over to Church, so that I can dump them in the lake.
