You asked this question in the WRONG forum. A lot of people here have a hardon for milage and do 20K/year+. The average milage on this forum will probalby be 2X the REAL average for all riders.
I do about 10K/year myself.
Also, high milage for a BMW GS, or VStrom is a bit different than high milage for say a CBR600RR because of their completely different intended purpose.

but i only rode nice days, not much for riding in rain or weather tahts too cold.
on that note. number varies by rider. theoretically, a bike is a miniature car, and should last just as long if maintained properly. look for proper maintenance.

Why be average?
I did 36,000 km last year but there was at least one big ride I couldn't go on for personal reasons. I will do more mielage this year.
I have over 4,000 km in 2010 so far. My V-Strom, that I bought at the end of July of 2006, just turned over 100,000km Tuesday evening.

bought my bike middle of august, rode till middle of october did just over 5 k. with the season starting early this year i figure, 15 - 20k

between 15-20 usually one year i did near 40 because i worked from 5pm-8pm so i had all day to ride...good ol' days of living at home. anyways this year i have had more KM on my snowboard then motorcycles this year
1st riding season I put on 7000km on the odometer.
I was instantly hook as I started riding
