    PRO6-Dunlop Challenge info thread

    Hello SOAR racers!

Allow me to introduce myself. My name is Dave Noble. I own and operate Trackside Tire Service Inc. I have been active the GTAM board for a few years now as a member and vendor. Over the last couple years I've had great success as a vendor of used race tires, as well new street and motocross tires. Others may recognize me as the "guy in the wheelchair who buys up all the scrubs" As the next stage in my business, Trackside Tire has teamed up with PRO6 Cycle to provide Dunlop race tires and support to SOAR racers. We will also be handling the administration and awards for the PRO6 Challenge "spec" tire class.

In addition to a full line of Dunlop race tires, we will have a wide assorment of wear parts and accessories available for your convenience at the track. Trackside Tire will strive to provide the best possible service for all SOAR racers(even those not on Dunlops!). We are excited to get to know the SOAR family, and hope you all enjoy a successful season.

Thanks, and see you at the races!

    Re: PRO6-Dunlop Challenge info thread

Here's the press release from PRO6:

Toronto, On. – Pro 6 Cycle and Dunlop tires, in conjunction with SOAR, Ontario’s newest road racing
series, are pleased to announce a three-year partnership of a new Dunlop stand-alone class, the “Pro 6
Dunlop Challenge”. Pro 6 Cycle and Dunlop are boasting $28,000 in prizes for participants in the Pro 6

Dunlop Challenge, with an additional $36,000 in series contingency, for a grand total of
    $64,000.

Figures unheard of at club level racing!

“With these payouts we are certain to attract a good contingent of riders and have great racing” says
Sandy Noce, President of Pro 6 Cycle which is the Canadian Dunlop race tire distributor as well as a full
service shop and leader in the Canadian trackday industry. In addition to generous tire payouts for
participants in the Challenge, Pro 6 has also kicked in in-store discounts and dozens of 2011 trackdays
    as championship bonuses.

The Pro 6 Dunlop Challenge will adhere to the Novice 600 Extreme class rules, with all participants
competing on the new American made Sportmax D211GPA. The Sportmax D211 is the same tire which
is run as the AMA spec tire for 2010 and is manufactured on the same equipment as the U.K. built
D211GP. The Sportmax D211, like its U.K. built brother, utilizes NTec technology which has
revolutionized the way we think about motorcycle racing tires. The NTec boasts a zero growth carcass
utilizing low pressure in the rear, maximizing tire footprint and outright grip. The Sportmax D211GPA is
also a triple compound rear, amplifying durability and longevity. The Sportmax D211 is expected to
supersede expectations in a similar fashion to the U.K. built D211 which, since its inception, has captured
numerous lap records and Championships in both Canada and the USA.

Dunlop and Pro 6 Cycle are also posting a very generous 2010 SOAR contingency program in numerous
classes for racers competing on Dunlop tires. This, coupled with the Pro 6 Dunlop Challenge serves to
give racers the most bang for their buck as competitors can use the Sportmax D211GPA’s in multiple
    classes, series and trackdays.

SOAR President Ken McAdam jumped on the partnership opportunity with Pro 6 and Dunlop stating his
reasons why as “simple. With these kinds of payouts how could I say no? It is in the best interest of my riders.”

Pro 6 Cycle is also pleased to announce the establishment of Trackside Tire Service Inc. and Dave Noble
as SOAR’s Dunlop tire representative for 2010 and beyond. Dave and his crew will be on hand at each
event to ensure that Dunlop riders are equipped to take the checkered on race day.
Dave can be reached at 905-260-5181, or via email at tirewhisperer@gmail.com.

Tires will also be available in the GTA at Pro 6 Cycle.

    Re: PRO6-Dunlop Challenge info thread

This past Saturday marked the opening test of the 2010 SOAR race season at Toronto Motorsport Park, located in Cayuga Ontario. As expected, the rider turnout was exceptional; the pits full of eager racers gearing up for the 2010 SOAR season which will kick off on May 7th.

The test also marked the first analysis of the new Dunlop Sportmax D211GPA on the TMP circuit. New this season, the US built Sportmax D211GPA has replaced the US built Sportmax GPA as the Spec tire choice of the AMA, as well as the Pro 6 Dunlop Challenge, a new stand-alone production class at SOAR.

The Sportmax D211GPA is built on the same pedigree of NTec technology,
introduced by Dunlop in recent years, which has revolutionized motorcycle
road racing. NTec tires boast zero growth and exclusive construction
characteristics accompanied by distinctive tire pressure settings which
maximize tire footprint and outright grip.

The Sportmax D211GPA exceeded expectations and lived up to the very
qualities of a race tire which Dunlop prides itself on. The tire proved to
be especially durable on the unique TMP surface which is notoriously hard on tires. Challenge participants were impressed, remarking that the harder
they pushed the Sportmax D211GPA, the better they felt and performed.

Trackside Tire Service, your SOAR Dunlop race tire distributor, is eagerly
awaiting the opening round. For more information on the Pro6 Dunlop
Challenge or Dunlop tires, please contact Me at Trackside Tire
    Service at (905)260.5181

Thank you and see you all at the track.
    Dave.

    Re: PRO6-Dunlop Challenge info thread

A little good news from out west:

    Race Report 15-Jun-2010
Royce McLean takes 3 wins and breaks the track record 4 times at Stratotech Park.

    Saturday Practice
With the focus this season on keeping the racing cost as inexpensive as possible to keep Royce on the bike, we stuck to our grass roots racing mode with his bike loaded in the back of the 1/2 ton, some spare parts, tools and used tires. Royce was eager to try the new Dunlop tires that had been sent to the track from Pro6cycle and race the Dunlop N-Tec Slick at Stratotech Park, the best track in Canada. He spent a couple sessions in the cooler morning on some used SportMax GPA AMA Spec Tires to work on his front end setup. He then went out for his first session on the Dunlop N-Tec slicks and was very impressed with the grip and wear. In his second session on the Dunlop slicks he matched the track lap record of 58.2 seconds that had not been touched since 2006. He ran several more sessions on the same tires to get a feel for how they would wear and he felt ready for race day.

Race Day Expert Open Sportbike - With a fresh set of Dunlop N-Tec’s under him, Royce would start from pole position. He would need a good start as his 2 main competitors Pete Degraff also on Dunlop’s and Adam Roberts on Michelin’s were both on 1000cc bikes. When the green flag dropped, Royce took the hole-shot and began pulling away from the field. Unfortunately several laps into the race Pete and Adam made contact going into corner 2. At the same time another crash involving 2 more riders in turn 8, caused the race to be red flagged. Sadly, when the race was restarted Royce’s main competitors were out for the day. This meant achieving one of Royce’s goals for the season of breaking the track record was not going to come from a good chase and would have to come from Royce battling against the clock, if he hoped to succeed. When the race was restarted Royce went on to break the track record on lap 3 with a lap time of 58.104 seconds, then again on lap 5 with a time of 58.034 seconds and then again on the last lap with a time of 58.005 seconds. Royce broke the track record 3 times during the race with a new set of Ferodo brake pads, running Yamalube oil, fresh can of MR12 VP Race Fuel and Dunlop tires on his Seitzco Yamaha R6. Royce won with a 12 second margin and the announcer and crowd were ecstatic.

Expert 600 - The announcer was excited to see what the young 15 year old had in store for the crowd. Dad installed a new Sportmax GPA AMA DOT Soft Rear tire to see what it could do. Royce put his head down, determined to break into the 57's and set a new lap record again. In lap 3 Royce accomplished his season goal by laying down a lap time of 57.866, setting a new track record for the 4th time in one day and Royce won the race with the crowds cheering. Open Superbike - With accomplishing his season goal in his previous race, Royce was back into tire conservation mode pulling onto the grid with used Dunlop N-Tec Slicks. Royce took the hole-shot, held the lead for the entire race and crossed the finish line in 1st Place. The announcer who had announced to the crowd that Royce was on used tires, was amazed at Royce’s lap times and the consistency of this young rider. Royce had many visitors at the end of the day, who wanted to meet the young rider.

Thanks to Dan Bieth of Stratotech Park for the great track, to Clint McBain from Acceleration Racing for their help this weekend and to Kent Reeves for the great photos. A special thanks to Steve Dick who had come down to help Royce set up his bike, Uncle Trent who is always near the phone for assistance, Evan Steel at Evan Steel Performance for advice on R6 setup with Dunlop tires, and especially to Sandy Noce from Pro6cycle for the amazing Dunlop Tires.
