Bancroft would be a good mid-point for the over-night. They have a few hotels.
Pembroke is a good base point - it puts you close to the Quebec border and there are some amazing roads over there.

head up to maynooth then over to 515 to 514 to 28 to 41 to calaboogie tehn on to ottawa, On the way back i know 511 south is great as well then cut back to 509(opma stomp) up 41 to 28......
