    Cruiser shoes

What kind of shoes do you wear for cruisers? I am guessing my low cut Nike's won't do this year.

I got these black Joe Rocket boots that look like steel toes.

That being said, you can do worse than by grabbing yourself a good pair of steel toe boots

    Debatable with steel toes.

    Myth or truth?
If the boot/shoe bends foreward it can cut your toes off?

    Re: Cruiser shoes

Think ahead, something solid with good ankle protection is what I would say. I wear cowboy boots and find them comfortable and protect well enough at the same time. If you look at the sportbike gear, their boots are total technologie and designed to help in high speed high/low sides. "Cruisers" tend to ride a different style and not drag our body limbs on the pavement so it's a differeny comfort zone. Steel toe? Make up your own mind cause it's a 2 sided debate with no clear cut winnerIf your at a bike show, look into rain gear, Frog Toggs have good & reasonable suits and these little slip ons for over your boots, best $20 I ever spent!

    Re: Cruiser shoes

I wear a low-cut doc-type boot for protection as well as stability and grip on the pavement (sometime you end up with an oil slick at a stoplight). Friends of mine have the full height boot but in the heat of the summer find them too hot.

I know different strokes ... but i don't feel as confident in runners (deck shoes), i equate it the same as cutting the grass in sandals. You may never have an issue but ...

If you are in the east end, check out Hero Army Surplus.

I buy surplus Canadian Forces work boots. They cover your ankle and provide good toe protection. Picked up a new pair earlier this year for $35.

I also have a Doc Martin-style, low-cut boot by Tommy Hillfiger that I like a lot and a pair of HD boots that I got for $90 at one of the bike shows over the winter.

It's the Least I Could Do

This motorcycle is simply too goddamn fast to ride at speed in any kind of normal road traffic unless you're ready to go straight down the centerline with your nuts on fire and a silent scream in your throat.

Ankles take the most abuse in a crash (especially on a cruiser where your leg will be right under the engine). I came off once in work boots (high cut), after months on crutches I bought proper riding boots with good ankle protection.

    I bought BMW transitions.

They offer good support, but wouldn't look ridiculous on a cruiser.

You can get a variey of Harley Davidson brand boots for about $50 - especially at the bike shows. I bought a pair of Alpinsestars waterproof touring boots over the winter because the HD's werent water proof, but they were fine for most everyday needs. Good for the price anyhow.

As stated: anything with ankle support.
If you have a regular shifter (not a heel-toe rocker) then steel toes don't give you feedback on the shifter, they also tend to have a bulge int he front, unlike normal toes.
Still most steel toes are not steel toes any more, they're composite plastic.

    Re: Cruiser shoes

I've been wearing a light duty workboot from Walmart (I think) it doesn't have a steeltoe or shank, just basically a boot that goes above the ankle and has a sturdy sole. It's time to replace them this year though. So likely something a bit higher quality than the walmart boot but similar in style

I get my boots from a local guy here in lindsay who buys closeouts and end of lines. i get great boots for alot less money. he has a lot of styles and alot of sizes and is a rider himself. head to toe outfitters. check him out he is a reasonable guy. i wear a boot that looks like a tactical boot and has lotsa ankle support but is actually a zip up. very comfortable. not very waterproof. need to bring your booties!

I wear good quality black work boots with shank and toe protection. I agree with others that something with ankle protection is something to seriously consider.

I've had some road debris hit my foot/toe without any problems. I'm sure if I was wearing anything less, i.e. Chuck Taylors, I'd have a few less digits to count with.

    Re: Cruiser shoes

I rode with my steel toe work boots today. I actually liked them except for the aforementioned giant bulge at the front. Sometimes I would get caught in between the shifter and the peg but I already adapted to changing the gear and than sliding my foot to the left and up without having the gear shifter interfere. I like it better than my Nike's
