20-24 year olds - how much did your insurance change this year?

    w/ jevco on a 2002 sv650s. Me being 22 (now 23).

    my 1st year - $2700 ish.

Last year, I called in my broker to get an estimate to what it would cost this year, I was told maybe $1900.

Got a bill this year for renewal for $1550 !

So now I'm curious. my 1900 quote was based on the old ins rate and with the news being an est ~14% increase in auto ins I thought I was going to be paying around the 2k mark. A happy surprise!

I am also with Jevco and rode a 2008 Ninja 250 last year for my first year. Paid 1800 for full coverage and was told that this year insurance would be $1250. I got the insurance invoice and sure enough insurance was around the $1200 mark. However I just bought a Honda Shadow Ace 750 and was quoted at $2200 for full coverage.

Should there be that much of a difference in insurance price for a sv650 compared to a Shadow 750? I am 21 turning 22 in April.

Jevco here too, 03 sv650s, 23 will be 24 soon, 1 ticket (comes off in a few days) and paid $1405 for this year... my renewal is coming up in May so I'll see what they say... hopefully I don't get screwed and it rises...

    Only time will tell...

    Last year at 20: $1300
    This year at 21: $984

I thought $1300 was stupidly overpriced. Are you guys paying $2000 on OSAP or just not going/not paying for post-secondary?

    You're 20-24 and were paying $901 for a GSF1250?
Should we assume you had other vehicles on the policy?

I think I need a different bike this year... I'm 24 GM2 (M2 for 1.5 years) had insurance last year on a 2002 zx6r for 2800, and this year its 3300... which I just can't afford w/OSAP/stipend... Looks like no ridey for me on the roads this year .
    Track conversion underway.

You're on OSAP and paying nearly $3K for motorcycle insurance? Yikes. Student debt sucks to pay for when you're done school, and minimizing your expenditures as a student is in your best interest. Switching bikes seems like a pretty good idea, at least until next year when your rate should drop.

How'd you manage that? Do you have a car insured as well? With who are you insured? I don't see how a 98 would be over half the price of an 02...

Cbr125,first year riding $1662 full coverage with jevco
    This year, $842 liability only.
If I were to upgrade to a ninja250, it'd be $893 a year. Problem with Jevco is that they won't let you change your policy or cancel it until it expires...

    Oh, and I'm 22
