    most long term mechanics actually develope a feel for proper torque. i learned in school they tested many mechanics and found them within 10% of what most fasteners required for torque.

    so yes you can get a feel for it...

    now try using a 3/4 or 1 inch drive torque wrench and tighten the head bolts on a Detriot diesel DD15. lol that takes alot of torque!

    motor head with years of experiance wrenching = no torque wrench needed

    noob/geek/know it all working in a home garage = New torque wrench required
