I have a pair of US Army Issued Combat boots. They protect well above my ankles, but are form fitting enough to pull my pants over and they are not bulky

Blundstones - but these were not considered safe enough to be allowed when I took my M1 course (elastic at sides instead of leather covering sides of ankles).

Doc Martins - have a pair that has the classic sole/toe, but instead of lace-ups they zip on the inside and go most of the way up to the knee. These ones offer pretty good protection.

I came across these when I was looking for other gear:

Wish I had seen them before I shelled out $150 for the Docs!

I picked up some leather Ecco cowboy style boots and those are comfy. I also have a pair of BMW high air flow 2 boots which are good because they stay vented. When I'm going around town sometimes Ill just wear regular sneakers.

i like the blundestones as well but they do leave a bit too much of your ankle open.

I have a pair of Blundestones but expect they'd get scuffed up pretty bad, their leather's not that thick. Those boots are too expensive to mistreat.

Blundstones are expensive because they are indestructible.
I wear mine for eveything, riding, hiking, whatever, and then I wash them off and they're good for work (at the office).
I've had this pair over two years and wear them year-round, and they probably aren't half done thier life.
The one and only issue is the poor ankle protection for riding.

    I wear these:

and when they wear out I will buy another pair!

The best general purpose boots I have ever owned. Comfortable, actually waterproof, provide plenty of protection and they look good with jeans, mesh/armour pants, or leathers -- your choice!

We're closing out all our Wesco boots. Handmade in Portland, Oregon USA. Full-grained oil-tanned leather nearly 1/8" thick. Full (not partial) steel shank, crush-proof heel counter, nailed stitched construction (no glue). Can be rebuilt indefinitely but you'll probably never need to. The finest engineer/harness boots on the planet. While they last.
