So Harley Finally Lost Their Minds

Harley-Davidson's second new offering, the CVO Ultra Classic Electra Glide, featuring black-on-black flames and more bolt-on bling (185 pieces, according to the press release) than you can shake a Screamin' Eagle catalog at, the CVO Ultra will steal the show at the nearest bike-friendly AYCE buffet.
Just 999 CVO Ultras will be produced, each featuring a serialized number plate affixed to the CB pod insert in the dash. Powered by a black-and-chrome Screamin' Eagle Twin Cam 110 (cubic-inch) engine paired to a 6-speed Cruise Drive Transmission, the CVO Ultra rolls on Contrast Chrome Roulette wheels and is decked out with blacked-out trim and a low-profile, 6.5-inch smoked windscreen. Standard ABS braking helps to maintain control, and a bevy of electronic gadgets-including a 160-watt Harman-Kardon CD/AM/FM/MP3 audio system (with standard XM Radio) and a bar-mounted Road Tech(tm) zumo(r) 660 GPS Navigator system-keep you and your passenger entertained.

"Suggested" retail price is $38,000 US

No doubt outrageous at $43k US, but I do like the batwing. It's a really nice bike, just not for me. There will be buyers out there.

It's an investment. They will be worth decent money if your great grandchildren hold onto them long enough.
Interesting marketing concept. Charge extra to take the chrome off and then sell the the chrome as extras.

whoever buys that bike will probably never ride it anywhere except the local tims. way too much money. you could buy a very good bike and tour in first class all summer long for that kind of money.

The CVO line isn't new. These are the prices for the CVO models. Obscene! One of the selling points of the CVO is that they are limited edition and the trim packages are only available on the CVO models. Plus, if someone tried to turn a the regular HD version into a CVO the cost would exceed the CVO original cost.

So, the CVO is actually a bargoooon!

FWIW, my buddy has an 08 UltraGlide Classic CVO. It is stunning and it doesn't spend it's life in Timmy parking lots.

My mistake on the price ... It is actually listed at $38,000

Still way too expensive when you can get a LOADED Goldwing for $25,000

were is the loaded goldwing for $25.000? the last i checked they started at $32.000 with no options. then you start adding the CD nav system, CB,heated seats and bars. and on up from there.

Cool bike, but there is definitely better out there for the money. I'd take a Goldwing over that any day of the week.

Re: So Harley Finally Lost Their Minds

CVO Ultra Classic Electra Glide $42,769
    Electra Glide Classic $22,569

$20K is a whole lot of freight for a bigger engine & some bling.

But they usually sell out of the CVOs since for a Harley fanatic it's the ultimate bike.

No different than the guy who drops $50K on a Ducati 1098 R Bayliss limited edition when a 1198 can be had for $20K or a 1198 S for $27K

I hate to break it to you, but $50K isn't a lot of money to some people.
One of my customers has several hundred thousand worth of bikes in a "garage" nicer than most peoples homes. Including several rare vintage bikes like Broughs and Harley board trackers and a Ducati Desmosedici RR (with 0.6km) and he doesn't even ride anymore, he just likes to collect bikes and has the means to do so.

It was my understanding that HD's turned that corner a few years ago. Stopped appreciating and actually have experienced depreciation for the first time.

Might be urban myth, but i seem to recall...
