It sounds to me that you are in fact covered but will have to pay on the spot and be reimbursed when you get home.

I heard that CAA Plus, while covering your motorcycle here in Canada, will not cover your Motorycle in the United States. My query was confirmed by CAA today:
For Your Information...Dear Ron,Motorcycle Emergency Roadside Service while in the US
The following is a quote from the AAA's website for international travellers:
" Please understand that AAA's "reciprocal Emergency Road Services (ERS)" DOES NOT INCLUDE services to any kind of "recreation vehicle" (camper, motorcycle, trailer, etc.) while you are in the United States. Even AAA members have to apply for the special membership called "RV Membership" to be covered for ERS on their RVs and motorcycles. "
I currently subscribe to the CAA Plus plan, and I'd like to know if my motorcycle is covered for Emergency Roadside Service thru AAA while traveling in the United States.
Thanks.
Thank you for contacting CAA South Central Ontario. Motorcycles with our without sidecar are covered under CAA Plus Coverage. However, due to differences in service terms in the United States., Members should expect to pay for service provided to motorcycles while travelling in the U.S. and may submit their original receipt for reimbursement.

Joanna

For as few bucks more you can get the "Premium" membership
Everything is covered and the towing distance is 250 kms
Hotel/Motel if necessary.
Just be sure to tell 'em you have a bike so they send a flat bed. Be sure to TELL 'em - they really don't listen well - think they have seen it all.
Been there and laughed at that!!

Absolutely - that's why I got it. Note: You get 5 calls. 4 are maximum of 200 kms and one is 320 kms. I ride a lot in Pennsylvania. They will cover the cost of the tow to the border and a Canadian truck will carry you from the border to your chosen shop - as long as it's 320 kms. $3.00 surcharge for every km over the 320 limit.
Check 'em out.

There's no "premium" membership on their site and in the years I've been a CAA Plus member I've never heard of it. Where did you get that information from? According to the CAA website you can get Basic, Plus or Plus + RV. Is that the one you're referring to as it doesn't list that it's any different from Plus membership except for the added benefit of having your RV covered.
Cheers,
M.
They probably haven't updated their site. I have CAA plus and I got a letter to upgrade to premium.

The card is silver and in Blue Italics is written "Premium" and it includes +RV
Can't argue about it. Just have it. Also, it's all paid by my CAA credit card. Some people collect air miles - I collect CAA points.
Check out the office on Woodbine in Markham. They've heard of it.

I've had it for longer than a year!! That's a long time for a web site to remain obsolete!
I used to have CAA Plus but they sent me a letter alerting me that CAA Plus would not be recognized in the States. Since that's where I ride most of my miles... I got the Premium card.

I received my offer to upgrade in the mail quite some time ago, but didn't feel it was cost effective. Now that I know it provides US coverage I may rethink my position on that as I've two long distance trips planned for the coming season both of which include border crossings. Thanks, I'll look into it.

That's interesting, as I was in Oregon last summer when my friend crashed in a very remote mountain location. (which he will hear no end of, believe me).
I called the AAA (CAA Plus coverage) and even though it wasn't even me, I was with the other rider and they'd cover it. This was no easy extrication either - the distance alone from the nearest town was 3 hours round-trip and almost 5 hours elapsed for them to get the bike out of the ditch on onto the flatbed with 2 men for the job.
Cost on the spot to me was $0 (although I did tip the drivers for their time)
I have Plus, and no one mentioned any of this to me when I got my policy.
What is the cost to upgrade to Premium? I ride at Deals Gap, and thousands of kms / yr in NY/PA/MD, WV for long wknds and en route to Indy and back. I would like the extra coverage

You are getting different answers here, I want full coverage too when I travel to the States.
It would be best to contact CAA directly to get the info you need.https://securenet.central.on.caa.ca/...us/contact.asp
I have contacted them with the question and will post the answer here.

Besides CAA coverage, some of you might want to think about extended medical coverage (Blue Cross for example) if you don't have specific coverage in the USA from your work. OHIP has very limited coverage while in the USA.

Heres my question and response from CAA. so it might be a good idea to take a good credit card with you if you break down and need a tow.
Thank you for using our email service.
Your Plus CAA membership will provide motorcycle coverage while in Canada, however many AAA clubs do not provide this service. While in the United States you may be required to pay for towing service on a motorcycle, but you may submit the original receipt to your home club for reimbursement.

To CAA,
We are planning to do some travel to the USA this year on our motorcycles and want to make sure that we are fully covered under CAA (AAA) while we are there.
We have CAA plus now , do we need to upgrade or are we ok with what we have? Thank you and waiting for your response .
This the response, I got when I asked the question.
Thank you for using our email service.
Some AAA clubs in the United States do not provide coverage for motorcycles, and will not honour your Plus coverage as it relates to this. Your Plus membership is all you need for motorcycle coverage in Canada, but if you encounter any problems in the United States you may be required to pay for the service and submit the receipt for reimbursement. Some AAA clubs provide motorcycle coverage if you have the Plus RV plan. This membership costs an additional $31.50 but may not guarantee coverage depending on which State you are in.
I am sorry for any inconvenience. If there is anything else I can help you with please let me know.
