Good luck and listen to the security guys! If they say something aint safe, it aint.
No need to be a bigger hero than you already are.
Luck.
I think I understand where you're coming from, and as a tax payer, if you want to be a sponsored peace agent, I would think the army is a good place to start, to be rewarded for your efforts, otherwise, it's volunteer, which is also a great thing. Ah to be independently wealthy, good for you if you can do it.
*gasp*
as a tax payer then, do you know that your government is matching every dollar that is donated to them to send to Haiti..... so whats the difference in that, then to pay me my 2 weeks EI (that would hardly pay most peoples rent) and send me to Haiti so i can work at helping people that they are just going to give money too (right now help would be a better plan then to just send money... money doesnt move debris to get people out of fallen buildings)
Not saying they dont need money, just saying people to do the work is also needed, and i know a few people who would go to Haiti to help out if it meant their EI didnt get cancelled
P.S. i dont want to be rewarded for my efforts.... i just would like to come back in the same amount of debt i left in and not deeper in with collecters waiting at my door
thanks for the positives tho guys n gals.. I'm not in it for the $ clearly.. I'm going on my own vacation time, paying for it myself and giving up part of my paycheck to help.. We have a colleague living down there and were just his and the doctors assistants.. Doing IVs, suturing and innoculations. I'll think of you peeps when I'm down there.. You'll be there in spirit.
