Ya that's it thanks. I like that vid. Listening to all the dragging bits adds to it...especially the long consistent sliiiiiiide on that one right haha

I knew chap that killed himself on one of those new Wings. On a decreasing radius corner. He was quite a skilled rider, but just got in way too hot and as the corner tightened it started dragging, and the dragging finally started to lever..and once levering for a short while and still not out of the corner and no more lane left, finally went right off. Took out a number of guard rails etc. It really sucked.

But in Wolf's case here in this vid, he obviously knows the road well and ridden it many many times exploring what the limits are.

But those Wing's, while they are very competent chassis-wise, just run out of clearance if pushed into territory of keeping up with another really skilled rider on a bike with more clearance.

i'm glad that they go after the double lane crossers...its the only thing that they can charge with someone down there on a regular basis. it keeps the trucks off the road for most part and people dont really cross the line = no head ons...

    NOT my experience.

the entire Tennessee side of the dragon is 30mph. (most of it is in Tennessee)

got at ticket for 45mph (big, big $$$ ticket) on a straight-away at the north end (thanks for the warning, Red1).

couple days later, got yanked over and chewed out as well as a written warning for 35mph about a third of the way through the dragon. The radar got me through the trees.

most people seem to go through it at about 35 to 50mph

the entire dragon used to be 50mph, but they dropped it down to 30mph a few years ago. 30mph on the dragon is PAINFULLY slow even in the corners unless you're a total newb. it's like put-putting through sunnybrook park on a summer weekend.

the north carolina police are much more laid back. we passed two separate patrol cars within minutes of each other on hwy28 (the Hellbender) at about 90mph (it's a 50) and they didn't even bat an eye.

another thing about the Tennessee police: they do NOT take kindly to you warning oncoming traffic of their presence. I believe the officer called it "obstruction"

he wasn't going to bother with a taser. let's just say i kept my hands visible and did my best to de-escalate the situation.

If we're sharing gap vids... both of these has me in it... both get more interesting around 10 minutes in.

    My gixxer 750, 2007.

    Gap:

    Cherohala:

These were *not* all-out runs, but I'd like to think the pace was pretty good.

Only watched the Cherohala so far..

Once he did the pass, "The Pace" came to mind. And how every rider should read it, and adhere to a respectful level of it's merit.

Hard to tell from videos, but what is speed limit of road? Most corners appear to be 150 to 160 kph corners if quite skilled. Maybe even fun at 130 to 140? Very hard to tell. Either way, if limit is 80 or 90, looks like it would be an amazing highway to get a really really bad ticket on. I have read they are sticklers with enforcing it also?
It's always about the timing. You guys had 20 min of ecstasy...but what lays ahead in the next 20 min?
    It's all about the timing..

Great video, but ya, the music sucked. I thought, ok, not my choice of songs for that type of vid, but I thought, ok I can live with BEP's no problem (although thinking Let's Get Retarded would have been a far better choice) but anyway...it went downhill from there..
And there was no mute button, but I scaled it back as far as it would go.

    Glad you didn't crash/ticket.

Speed limit of the road is 55km/h. Corners are marked at 40km/h. The whole thing was marked at 90km/h a few years ago, however. I can confirm that we held the speed limit during the entire video.

Yes, but it's lightly patrolled, and that ZX-12R has a Valentine One.

Agree. It's a risk we understood going out. The trip back was a *lot* faster. Had the camera been on, that would have been really something to show, if only to prove the true depth of our idiocy.
