On Sept. 27 I hit and killed a deer. I was banged up but nothing serious. The police officer gave me a ride home. He scralled his name, badge number and incident number on a ticket envelope for me. He said I needed that at the collision reporting center. I didn't report it because I have no collision coverage.
Here's the rub: none of my bike buddies believe I hit a deer, especially in light of the fact that one of them hit a deer in May with a very bad outcome.
If I take the given info into the police station would they be willing to give me a written statement or report?

You have posted said incident in question on the Internet. It has now been solidified as fact. Just show them this post and tell them to STFU cause the Internet said so.
To Inreb's friends reading this in the future... buy him some beer for not believing the above story, and also let him sleep with your women(s). That is all.
Oh an easy one. Just launch yourself down a few flights of stairs.
