when you start to play at that level, 1098R , M5 ect. you dont really care about an R1 costing 25% as much and a Z350 cornering faster. That has little to do with ownership experience.
I race 250k sailboats, they break stuff and sometimes hit each other. Couldn't do it on my dime, but the owners rave about the experience.
how did this thread turn into an internet geekathon about what would be what on the street and track, who cares
Saw one at the Gap this year. Definitely a nice looking bike. Not sure what I'd do if I had that kind of disposable cash....but I think it looks great.
I wonder if it's World Superbike spec.

I’d rather be riding my motorcycle thinking about God than sitting in church thinking about my motorcycle.
beautiful bike...until you slap a flag on it...as for spending the money on something like that...sure...(if it didn't come with the flag of course)...
If performance per dollar was all that anyone cared about , no one would ever buy a harley , or a tourer - it would all be sports bikes. If money were no object , I would have one over most similar high cost special editions - lets face it, the very high $$ MV special editions are outclassed by most of the supersport 1000s from Japan. My reasoning - Bayliss was always my favourite GP rider. Same reason people wear replica lids instead of plain ones that cost less.

'to each, their own'
i personally prefer the look of my bike... and apparently it outperforms it as well... so for me, the GSXR 1000 beats that 1098 in price, looks and performance...
only thing i can think of that 1098 beats my bike is the attention it would get when pulling into a timmies... more GSXR's out there than Duc's ... worth the extra $42,000? probably not
