You can get a new one cut no problem. any good locksmith should be able to do it for you.
The problem is, the scum could come back and steal the bike at anytime.
so i think the best option is to get a new set of locks.

So some class A scum bag has taken it upon himself to steal my purse from behind my desk at work and long story short he took my sv's key with him... it was my only copy and I'm completely lost as to whether i'll need an entirely new ignition or whether suzuki can make me a replacement key with my VIN and ownership...
worst part is that i'm selling my darling and now have no key to strut her stuff with...
HELP!!!!
any light you could shed on this would be amazing...
thanks in advance

please email me directly, I don't check the forums anymore. Thanks!
thanks for your quick reply...
any referrals for a good locksmith?
i didn't have anything with my address on it so hopefully just a new key would do it...
any idea about how much it would end up costing me either way?

I forget what it's called - but with the original set of keys a small metal tag would have been attached with a code on it - do you have this? If yes, you're in the clear - shouldn't be a problem at all to get a new key cut.
Better to regret something you have done than something you haven't.
i don't have the metal tag that wouldve come with the bike... i'm hoping i could just show up at a suzuki dealer with my ownership and magically leave with a key...

I can only give my recent experience. I had a yamaha bw50 that the previous owner had lost the keys for, I looked into it and the info I received was that I could not just walk into a yamaha dealership with the ownership and get a key.
I brought it to a locksmith out here in Durham who was recommended to me by kneedragger88, and the guy was great. He checked the blanks that he had and none fit, asked me to leave the scoot with him and he'd keep at it.
Next day I had 2 keys.
Hopefully someone can recommend a locksmith to you more local to you.

Thanks everyone for your replies... scum bag doesn't have my address so i'm not toooo worried
i'm going to call the suzi dealer and see if they can give me a blank and take the ignition to a locksmith...
i hope the scum bag realizes he's going to get a LOT of bad karma for stealing a worthless bag with makeup and random ding dongs
Thanks again for all the help and advice...
I thought he/she had your purse as well?
If you know which dealer sold the bike originally most record the key code on their paperwork.
thankfully i don't carry a wallet ( i lose too many) so my drivers license was in my pocket along with my debit card... my entire house is code-entry so the keys are useless except for my sv's key...
my purse is just an assortment of things i drag around with me on a daily basis... mainly just makeup and other random ding dongs...
BTW HI GTAM
i've been a member for more than a year, found my bike off a member and have been too shy to do the whole intro thing...
this was my first bike after a loooong 17 year obsession.
Next year i'll be 25 and my insurance quotes more forgiving...
Thanks everyone for their insight and help, its greatly appreciated.
This site's been good to me
You should be worried. Scumbag knows where you work... If Scumbag wants your bike he/she can simply follow you home from work and come back at a later time when your at work to steal the bike... I'm guessing you had house/apartment keys on the ring too? Guess what, scumbag can get into your home too then if they follow you home from work...
Be careful... Change all your locks for which keys were taken...
How sexist of you to assume it's a bloke. Could be a gayer who liked your handbag.
Replace the lock, key, gas cap and seat lock. It'll sell easier and probably be cheaper than having to bend over for your local Suzuki dealer. Ebay (as usual) may be your friend for such things.

Spineless swines. Cemented minds.
So I went to the security desk and the 'bloke' (30-35 year old white male) returned my purse with my makeup and hair brush and other random ding dongs but took my bike key and a necklace with some change... I never ride to work (yonge street isn't friendly during my work hours)
so the bike is relatively safe but I still don't know whether to replace everything or just the key :s
my entire house is code-entry so no keys to the house
