Cali trip San Fran to Grand canyon and back. OCT 23 - NOV 2 2009

Hello,
I'm porting to see if anyone has ridden this area and has any thoughts of a detour or must ride route in this neck of the woods.

3 of us are meeting in San Fran for this ride.

That looks like a great trip.
I've rode through Sedona which I would highly recommend and it's not too big a detour. The trip from Flagstaff to Sedona is quite nice which makes the detour worthwhile, and then to get yourself back onto your route, the best part I liked was a trip up to Jerome from Sedona. Jerome is a small town on the way to Prescott from Sedona - which you can then route yourself back onto your route towards Bullhead City (your marker 'G').

The trip up to and past Jerome has some awesome views as Jerome itself is around 6000ft above sea level. You can see the Painted Desert below and it's nothing short of magnificent on a clear day. Some awesome curves and very good condition roads heading up the mountains.

Oh boy, I wish I could do that. I did a bike trip out west in 1990, haven't had the time since.

Personally, on the return route, past Bakersfield I'd rather go all the way west to US 1 and take that north rather than the interstate, but that's just me ...
