19 y/o TD quote for cbr125
I just did the online quote "calculator" Im 19, just beginning to ride, m2 less than a year, have a g2 license (no G). I got $2300. I know I shouldn't be complaining but for a 125cc bike I was thinking maybe like 1700-2000? Thats like higher thn the cost of the bike. Is the online tool a large estimation or a realistic one? do you think if i make some calls I can get a reasonably lower rate?

If you put all the right information in the TD quote calculator, I think TD uses that to pull up the quote if you used it and put in the right information.

all the info I put in was correct. I guess I should be happy?
Re: 19 y/o TD quote for cbr125
Call them, you'll most likely get a better quote.
Re: 19 y/o TD quote for cbr125
TD is exact
If you go to school you might get a group rate, call TD Meloche Monnex
M2 less than a year = that rate sounds about right..

Yupp, under 1 year, you should be really happy to get a quote like that. I just wasn't able to go with TD MM cause Seneca @ York doesn't count... =/
Re: 19 y/o TD quote for cbr125
How long until you've been M-licensed for a year?
Your rates will drop significantly if you can wait. (Do another online quote and set the date you received your license to Feb 2011. Make sure your jaw is securely fastened to your head first.)
Re: 19 y/o TD quote for cbr125
Call them as what they quoted me online was cheaper when I called them. But still 2300 for a cbr 125. I ride a 1 litre bike and only pay 1300. Regardless of experience big inference in motorcycle. Best of luck with getting a better rate as it seems that motorcycling in Ontario is becoming a real exclusive hobby. As how many new riders can afford to pay 2300.
Re: 19 y/o TD quote for cbr125
Even if it's been a year since you first got your M1, and you therefore qualify for Jevco, the rate is going to be $2430 for liability only. Jevco had a rate increase on March 15th and it specifically targeted younger riders on the smaller bikes (using the old rates, it would've been $1780). Therefore, it sounds like TD is your best bet, and insurance rates will only get better for you as you go along - be patient and ride safe, and it'll work itself out.
Re: 19 y/o TD quote for cbr125
Jevco aside, his rate will drop with TD too.

I don't want to wait a whole year, I guess its time to work my entire 4 month of summer vacation. I go to Mcmaster, would that get me some discount?

Most likely, yes, actually.
Get a quote from TD Meloche Monnex instead. After entering your postal code, select "Student" and then find McMaster in the list.

Meloche Monnex is the division of TD that offers group discounts.

I'm on the same boat as you my friend. I called Jevco and got a quote ofr $2400 just for liability. Same motorcycle (CBR125R) 21 years of age + 1 Speeding ticket. He told me that Jevco was the only insurance company that would insure me, haven't called around yet but I will soon when it comes close to my RTI course.
