Interesting, probably to make it easier for the snow plows.

Drove the Forks today in the cage, the brine has been applied, ready for the slipping and sliding season. Rider beware.
Thanks for the warning. I rode by there yesterday and I also noticed the brine solution was applied. When I rode by there, the road surface was wet. As I was slowing down just before the hairpin turn (eastbound) , I noticed my back wheel locking and sliding. I wasn't travelling to fast and all I did was downshift. Yet due to the road being wet and the brine solution underneath. It was enough to cause a rear wheel lock and slide. Luckly I was able to recover. I didn't apply and any brakes and just let the bike naturally regain traction while I kept it level.
Re: Current status of Forks
Swung through today. Road does have an odd sheen to it.
Odd how the speed bumps are gone now. They weren't even there for very long.

They are removable, and as someone mentioned, they will most likely be back in the spring :(

Even Mississauga Rd heading North away from Belfountain is busy, and just south of Charleston Sideroad you get alot of cars parked o nthe sides of the road, and a few of them aren't looking where they are going. Lots of people stopping in the middle of the road, and driving unsafe while they look at the Foliage.
Also the Speed bumps aren't an issue for us Bikes. They have LARGE gaps we can ride through, problem is, alot of cars don't seem to notice the bumps till they're almost ontop of them and they Slam on their brakes.
Quite the cluster ****.
I just got back to Canada recently and didn't hear about this road until a few weeks ago. Every time I went in late November it was pretty much clear of cars, bikes, and cops (and I had a blast :)).
Does it get as busy as described above frequently when the weather is warm?
Re: Current status of Forks
As a rule of thumb, between 11am and 5pm on weekends in the summer, you will want to avoid the forks.

Excellent; thanks for the advice. Being a teacher I won't have to worry about only riding on weekends in the summer :)

Speed bumps are back in place.
Re: Current status of Forks
+1 on the speed bumps, but I was able to go in between them.

lol....I know right. Bikes don't even need to slow down for them.
Been on forks a few times this year already. It's ready to ride. No problems.
Though Mississauga rd Northbound out of Forks is as cracked and bumpy as ever.
