2012 Jevco prohibited bike list - John R Duffy Insurance
Jevco no longer insures the following motorcycles. In past years these super sport models received a 400% surcharge.

Re: 2012 jevco prohibited bike list - john r duffy insurance
The question should be 'what does Jevco still insure'?
I have never liked Jevco and this just ensures I will never have any dealings with this co.
Re: 2012 jevco prohibited bike list - john r duffy insurance
Does this mean that my insurance should be cheaper since they don't insure SS bikes anymore? So glad my VFR wasn't listed!!

Unlikely since I don't know anyone who insures their SS with Jevco.

I have my Ducati with them, they gave me the least expensive quote.

No -- the very few SS bikes that they had on their book were being charged a more-than-adequate premium. The 400% surcharge was basically their way of saying "we will not insure SS bikes".

On top of that, they increased their premiums as of March 15th by upto %8. Altho targeting new riders, you may get a higher rate at renewal.

Why even offer bike insurance with that list just focus on life, car and home insurance. You forgot one MV agusta might as well go full circle.

I know this is difficult to believe but many of us like riding older or non-sportbikes. And we also like paying less than $1000/year. One more thing, stop quoting the list!

I love the old norton and triumph myself, but I might be lucky as they do not list the MV F4 :-)

You guys DO realize there is more to life than sport bikes...right? There is a huge list of cruisers, dual sports, tourers, sport tourers, classic, vintage, smaller displacement sport bikes.
Think bigger folks....you're options are unlimited if you really love riding and open your mind!
Cheers
Paul

I don't understand... Are you telling them to consider other bikes, or strap a bong to the ones they have?
:laughing9:
I joke.

You mean sport tourers like the Blackbird, Hayabusa and ZX-14? Where is the line drawn? They refuse those three but are happy to take on an FJR? Would I be accepted if I were to fit an electric windshield onto my XX? Jevco sucked the last time I checked them and, apparently, all that's changed is that they suck harder now.

No you're not that lucky. Jevco also won't insure any bike they consider to have the performance capabilities of a sport bike. Highly unlikely Jevco will insure the MV F4.

My guess...I don't have stats...but I'm willing to bet....you put those 4 bikes in front of ten 20 year old riders with an M1 and I'll bet no more than 2 pick the FJR. :)
Re: 2012 jevco prohibited bike list - john r duffy insurance
All Im seeing is that the triumph sprint and speed triple are no longer blacklisted?
Would that mean that jevco no longer surcharges for them? or that they do in fact surcharge just they will still insure those bikes?

there's a bunch they stopped blacklisting last year, like the FZ6/8/1 for example. There's still lots of fun bikes that Jevco will insure, I just think they are still too much money for small bikes like the 250. My first year was over 1600, and last year's renewal was 650 on a 250.

You forgot the ZX12..... ;)
And yea, I always hated that. Sport touring unless you insure it in Canada. Then its a S/S.
And, not i'm not complaining, I knew what I had before I bought it, and knew even if I brought my own lube with me, they still wouldn't use it....hahaha

Probably 2 more than would choose the Blackbird. In fact, I would be willing to bet that the Kwaki and the Bus would be the ONLY bikes chosen by a group of 20 year olds. My thing is that they are all classed as ST bikes. Oddly, the Hurricane is on the banned list but is more than 16 years old. The first year XX is 16 years old, too. Does that mean that they are banned or exempted? There is no apparent logic to the selections.

AFAIK, State Farm still considers the bird a sport-tourer and I pay accordingly.
