Insurance sucks for new riders:(
hi everyone
I just decided to get a bike.... i got it and all gear and its too hard for me to get insurance and register it.
i got a few quotes from like 20-30 companies i called ... all from 2500-3000.
My stats:
23 years old, female, with m1 from march 2012, g2 licence for about 2-3 years.
one speeding ticket. bike : 2008 honda cbr 125r.
If anyone knows what i should do please let me know.
i thought about --getting it register in quebec
--getting a theft and fire insurance and ride it carefully:-s
--getting g and m2 licence and wait for next season
Thank you

Yes--getting G and M2 licence and wait for next season
Get your Safety Course and your M2 and your rate will go down.
Insurance is part of the deal. You can't get out of it.
How long until the speeding ticket is off your record?
Re: Insurance sucks for new riders:(
i was thinking to get it.....but i asked td and other companies if it will change and they said no:(
Re: Insurance sucks for new riders:(
You can't just insure it for fire and theft and expect to ride it, it doesn't work like that.
Go with the lowest quote you got and suck it up 'till next year.
Good luck.
Re: Insurance sucks for new riders:(
that's surprising. i had always thought that having the safety course meant you got a bit of a discount. maybe it's the speeding ticket that's raised the price of insurance for you.
your age may be a factor as well. rates seem to go down once your 25.
see what vifferfun has to say about it.

It's going to hurt a little every time you see a bike on the road, but you're probably making the right decision.

Re: Insurance sucks for new riders:(
You mentioned in another thread that you were OK with paying 120/month.
If you were to go with 2500/year, that would be 208/month.
I know there's a quite difference between the too, but is it big enough to stop you from riding?
BTW... the quotes you got, were they for full coverage or liability only?
Re: Insurance sucks for new riders:(
if you're not going to ride your bike for a year, make sure it's stored properly or it may not be operable in 2013
Re: Insurance sucks for new riders:(
have you tried Primmum? Jevco?

no its actually not....but they want me to pay 2500 in 6 months which is 416 a month....i asked if possible to pay it in 12 months...and said no....but i might have it wrong...cuz they said will be 482 or so a month from april to september....:-s
i asked for basic coverage....i donno exactly how insurance work....i dont really care what they offer me ..if they give me good price..

Re: Insurance sucks for new riders:(
an m2 will get your rate down.
your m1 is only good for 3 months max... so go do your m2, get it, and call places back...
do you have a car? if so, throw it under state farm. and you will pay pennies for the bike. state farm rates by engine size.
next time... make these calls before buying...
Re: Insurance sucks for new riders:(
if you only put fire + theft on, insurance will not give you the pink liability slip you need to produce if asked. Liability is the expensive part of insurance unfortunately.
